For physicians who want to join

Members bring cases from their own practice, with records, photographs and each patient's signed consent, and give time to collecting data and critically reading other members' drafts. They work with a team that handles design, analysis, writing and responses to reviewers, on projects with authors from several countries.

Membership carries a fee, quoted individually. It pays for the team's work and does not depend on publication. Publication is each journal's decision, and a sound manuscript can still be rejected.

Authorship is decided using the four ICMJE criteria and agreed at the start of each project, not at the end. Neither contributing a case nor paying the membership fee confers authorship; meeting the ICMJE criteria does, and contributors who do not are acknowledged.

For institutions and advisors

We take on projects from scientific societies, clinics, universities, physicians abroad and industry, with conflicts of interest declared from the first draft. To start, email info@encefalo.org with the question you want to answer, the data you already have and the country where patients are treated. Any study involving patients needs approval from an ethics committee in that country before it begins. Each project is quoted once we understand it.
